March 2, 2015, Muncie, IN – A search committee has been formed to identify candidates for the position of Shafer Leadership Academy Executive Director, the organization announced today.
Jeannine Harrold, Shafer Leadership Academy founding board member and Director Emeritus of the Ball State University Career Center, will chair the search committee appointed by the Shafer Leadership Academy Board of Directors.
The new executive director will succeed Richard Crist, who is stepping down from his position effective May 31, 2015, to focus more time on his role as Chief Operating Officer for Whitinger & Company including leadership of the firm’s business consulting company, Whitinger Strategic Services. Crist has served as Shafer Leadership Academy Executive Director since 2009.
According to Board President, Steve Smith, “Under Richard’s guidance, Shafer Leadership Academy has grown from a volunteer movement to a mature organization in need of a full-time Executive Director to continue our momentum.”
“It is hard to believe more than six years has passed since I began working with this outstanding organization,” stated Crist. “The growth of Shafer Leadership Academy has been remarkable in so many ways but the most rewarding aspect is seeing hundreds of skilled SLA Alums engaged in nearly every aspect of our community, making East Central Indiana a better place to live and work. It has been my honor to serve in this role and I have been richly blessed by the experience.”
The committee will begin accepting applications for the position immediately with plans to have a new executive director on board by June 1, 2015. To apply, send a letter of application and resume to applytosla@gmail.com. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
