July 8, 2013, Muncie IN – Shafer Leadership Academy, East Central Indiana’s Leadership Development Institute, has announced that CONVERGE 2013 will be back for the fourth consecutive year. This region-wide event will take place on September 5th from 4-7 PM at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie.
Similar to a “job fair for volunteers”, CONVERGE 2013 intends to bring willing and talented volunteers throughout East Central Indiana face-to-face with the region’s nonprofit organizations that want and need their help the most. Attending organizations are given a booth to present their open volunteer positions. Individuals are then invited to visit and network with each organization in effort to find volunteer opportunities they are interested in including board member roles, committee service, and general program volunteering.
“Converge has become a yearly event that brings our region’s most vital nonprofit organizations together with our area’s most talented individuals seeking to make a difference in their communities. This “community engagement” activity is a natural extension of our work to develop and equip leaders.” stated Shafer Leadership Academy Executive Director, Richard Crist. “Through the first three years hosting this event we have averaged 40+ non-profit organizations in attendance, a total of 462 individual attendees, and more than 150 volunteer commitments that we have been able to track. For 2013, our goals are 50 organizations, 200+ individuals, and 85+ volunteer connections.”
Non-profit organizations interested in attending can register at www.convergeeci.com before the August 3rd deadline. The event is limited to the first fifty organizations and booth space will be on a first come first served basis. Booth fees are just $50.00 and posting on the Converge website is completely free of charge. Attendance for individuals is free of charge.
